New Beginnings & Hope
The Beloved Haven Staff was thrilled to receive a visit from two of our former clients this weekend. We love that they feel the same bond we do. When they move on, we miss them and think about them all the time. To have them come to our Drop-In Center on a Saturday (luckily a staff member was here building shelves, and another came immediately when she heard who was here!) to visit us really warms our hearts!
These incredible ladies are both currently in a program and are doing so well! But we knew they would! The ladies attended a job fair, and one received an offer for training in her chosen field. She is so excited and brought her paperwork in to show us! She was beaming!! Our other client is very eager to start working on her GED requirements this week. They are both on the path to success. We could not be any prouder of them.
This is what it looks like. New beginnings, and hope. That fresh start to restoration and healing. We are so happy for them but wish we could be there for every step. Hopefully, soon we will have the house we need, and these won’t just be temporary visits. Hopefully, with our amazing community alongside us, we will bring the Beloved Haven family together, and get to celebrate every single moment of success with these beautiful young women. We will be making sure they are seen, known, and loved by us every day!

Looking Ahead - Long-Term Care
Our current service partners are telling us that if we had available housing, we would be filled with clients in a matter of days. This is both encouraging and disheartening.
As you are all feeling, 2020 was quite the struggle. While we may be trying to conquer virtual learning, ZOOM meetings, and social distancing; our clients are trying to find safe shelter. They face hunger, abuse, and homelessness. When we put it into perspective, we at Beloved Haven are in a moment of crisis. We desperately need housing for these women and girls.
In order to achieve this, we have put our transitional housing build on the back burner. We are now in need of a home to house a few clients at a time. We are looking for possibly a three bedroom home in a safe area. We will make it work to the best of our ability to get our clients a program that works and helps them grow.
We need your help. We are looking at approximately $250,000 for a home in our area. Ideally, we need a $50,000 down payment, We would like some regular donors who could commit monthly to help support mortgage payments.
Our current service partners are telling us that if we had available housing, we would be filled with clients in a matter of days. This is both encouraging and disheartening. It is disheartening because there is clearly an upswing in trafficking cases in our area, as there is nationally, especially during this pandemic. It is also encouraging though, because we know that Beloved Haven will provide a model that can be used as an example for other agencies.
You can be a part of this. Please consider donating any amount you can. No donation is ever insignificant. Please help us spread the word by sharing this request with your friends and colleagues. A corporate sponsorship would be an incredible blessing.
As we spend our holiday time reflecting on this past year, please remember the human trafficking victims in our country and around the world. They need to be seen, known, loved and helped. Thank you all and we are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers for a healthy, happy, new year.

October is Fair Trade Month
We are always promoting fairness. We tell our kids to “play fair”. We ask our co-workers and spouses to “do their fair share”. We want fairness and justice in our courts. But what about Fair Trade? Do we extend our desire for fairness to global labor? October is Fair Trade Month. Fair Trade is a movement that promotes sustainability, fair labor practices and no child labor. At Beloved Haven, we have an online store that provides Fair Trade products. Karma Blue Market sells products from many great Fair Trade shops. We would love to introduce you to a few of them.
World Finds empowers women through their fair trade production. Their artisans are from vulnerable communities in India and make the most beautifully colorful jewelry and accessories.
Starfish Project is a social enterprise supporting women who are escaping human trafficking in Asia. Their gorgeous jewelry is classic and timeless.
Fair Anita provides hope for women who may be in unsafe conditions and need financial security in order to leave the situation. They produce unique jewelry that is fun and affordable.
Mercy House Global provides housing for pregnant girls in Kenya. Their jewelry, accessories and home goods have the wonderful beauty of Africa and its people.
Eleventh Candle Company is a Columbus Ohio company that empowers women who are trafficked here in the United States and also assist women globally. Their candles are lovingly made with the most quality ingredients.
The greatest part of shopping through Karma Blue Market is that you support these wonderful artisans and Beloved Haven’s mission at the same time. Start your holiday shopping early. Avoid the big box stores and shop with a purpose. Promote fairness for all with our unique gifts!
